Red Light Experience

This is a three-hour guided walk through Kabukicho with American guides who have lived here more than 12 years. You meet near Shinjuku, then move through the parts of the district most visitors either miss or get scammed in. It is built for English-speaking travelers who want to see the real nightlife without guessing which door is safe to open.

What you'll see

You walk the neon strip past the Toho building and Godzilla Road, then off it into the back alleys where the actual scene is. We pass the host and hostess club blocks and explain how they work, who they are for, and what a session costs before you ever sit down. We cover the love hotel streets and explain their place in Tokyo. We end with a drink at a foreigner-friendly bar where the prices are on the wall and the owner knows us by name.

You see Golden Gai if the group wants it. Some nights a few of the smaller bars are full or closed, so the route bends to what is open.

How the night runs

You get a meeting point in the Shinjuku area once your inquiry is confirmed. The night starts there, on foot, around 180 minutes door to door. We move at a walking pace with stops to sit and drink. Your guide handles the Japanese, reads which touts to ignore, and picks the next stop based on how the group is doing. You choose whether to enter a venue.

Drinks at the included bar are part of it. Anything you order after that, or at venues beyond the set route, you cover yourself. We tell you the number before you commit to anything.
